Thobias the train fighter is an arena fighter with trains made by two college students.
Show them who is the most handsome ! use your extended moveset (40, maybe useful moves) and your insane speed to slaughter your enemies to death in this chaotic fighter.
The goal of this build is to have a proof of concept of a 3D fighting game, made with nothing but our basic knowledge in unity C#, Shadercode, blender.
The project took nearly 10 months because of college and other personal things. Inspired by Guilty gear, thanks to dustloop that provides a lot of information about how the game works. Besides that, the movements take a lot from sonic the hedgehog.
At the beginning we wanted to have network so people could play online (there is local play if you have friends tho), and we also wanted two characters and special cinematic moves, so what you have here is a toned-down version of our original vision.
Please play with a controller
WASD/ZQSD/left joystick = move you character
Mouse/Right joystick = move camera
When you are focused on your enemy you can use the Right joystick to make your attacks go for other parts than the head, there’s no visual indication of that mechanic in the demo, sorry.
Space/A = jump
LeftMouseclick/X = jab attack
RightMouseclick/Y = Heavy attack
WheelClick/B = Hook attack
CRTL/Right Trigger = Drift
Shift/Left Trigger = Roman cancel (it slows down you ennemy so you can extend your combo)
Right bumper = block
Left bumper = dust (we don’t have grabs here, so it’s useless)
I was Game Designer and C# Programmer (on the network prototype, i used Photon Pun for it). I designed the combat system, how it will work and it's purpose. Each car of the train represent Hp of the players. The goal is to destroy every car of the ennemy. The game has two phases, first you have to find your ennemy, and after that you can engage the fight. One pillars of this project, is the speed, and the movement, you can get more speed on slope, drift, jump etc...

Collisions may break sometimes
There’s a softlock bug, that will block the character in an idle animation, and you won’t be able to do an attack. If it happens try to block or roman cancel.
If you have a double screen and play local coop the game will take both screens and will be fullscreen, when you return in the menu it will stay in that state, I’m sorry for that.
In Addition , we’ve attempted to got skatepark level, where you can glide walls, but collisions were broken.
